Still shot. German composer Felix Kubin, wearing a blue suit and a red shirt, plays the piano without piano. A halo of mystery surrounds the origin of the music he plays: enchantment, magic or trick? This remains a puzzle. The only thing we know for sure is Kubin’s great agility. A medium shot shows him tapping his fingers with dexterity, in a reminiscent manner of famous Jerry Lewis’s typewriter scene. Through this short whose aesthetics reminds of Georege Meliès’ films, Marie Losier addresses the power of music in a philosophical and playful way, while paying tribute to special effects from the silent era. Kubin will be the protagonist of Marie Losier’s next feature, which is currently being edited.
