Dopo aver scontato diversi anni di prigione, un individuo cerca la via verso casa attraverso le strade ed i quartieri del Cairo, in una realtà dove tutto ciò che gli era familiare non esiste più. La città è ora governata da un nuovo sistema di norme e regolamentazioni e la vita, così come la conosceva prima di andare in prigione, è definitivamente cambiata. Nella sua ricerca per la vita il protagonista ripercorre tutti gli aspetti del suo passato: la famiglia che non ha visto per anni, la polizia, l'esercito, i netturbini, la città dei morti. Gli abitanti del Cairo sono ignari di tutti i dettagli di quella vita.
After years of incarceration an individual tries to find his way home through Cairo's streets and quarters at a time when anything that used to be familiar to him doesn't exist anymore. The city is now governed by a new set of norms and regulations and life as he knew it before going to prison is now permanently changed. In his quest for life the main character recalls every single aspect of his past: the family he hasn't seen for years, the police, the army, the garbage collectors, the City of the Dead. The inhabitants of Cairo are unaware of all the details of that life.
Ahmad Abdalla
Nasce il 19 Dicembre 1978 al Cairo. Comincia la sua formazione studiando musica prima di diventare un montatore e regista, è conosciuto per i lavori Heliopolis (2009), Microphone (2010) e Farsh w Ghata (2013). Quest’ultimo è stato presentato in anteprima mondiale al Toronto international Film Festival del 2013 ed in seguito presentato a molti altri festival internazionali come il London International Film Festival, l’Abu Dhabi Film Festival e il Cinemed International Mediterranean Film Festival di Montpellier. Nel 2002 inizia a lavorare anche come grafico e supervisore di effetti speciali per lungometraggi. Sta attualmente fondando una casa di produzione indipendente in Egitto, insieme ad altri giovani registi emergenti.
He was born on December 19, 1978 in Cairo. He begins his education studying music, then he becomes an editor and director, known for Heliopolis (2009), Microphone (2010) and Farsh w Ghata (2013). The latter was world premiered at the Toronto international Film Festival in 2013 and later presented in many other international festivals like the London International Film Festival, the Abu Dhabi Film Festival and the Cinemed International Mediterranean Film Festival in Montpellier. In 2002 he has begun working as a graphic designer and special effects supervisor for some feature films. He is now founding an independent production company in Egypt, together with other young emerging directors.
