Nell’ex carcere di Caseros, a Buenos Aires, le storie vere di donne cisgender e di persone transgender riprende vita in una soluzione ibrida: documentario e musical si incontrano per restituire umanità, voce e corpo a chi viene spesso ridotto a un numero o a uno stereotipo. Personaggi come Yoseli, in cella per traffico di droga, o Nacho, uomo trans che trova nella musica una via di fuga, presentano l’esperienza della detenzione come un’esperienza viva, carica di memoria e di rivalsa.
Reas non è solo un documentario, è un viaggio emotivo conteso tra realtà e finzione, tra dolore e emancipazione. Diretti dalla drammaturga argentina Lola Arias, i momenti personali si alternano a sequenze collettive in cui la solidarietà e la sorellanza diventano strumenti di resistenza, componendo così un’opera potente e poetica, capace di abbattere pregiudizi e mostrare la complessità di chi vive ai margini.

In the former Caseros prison in Buenos Aires, the true stories of cisgender women and transgender people come back to life in a hybrid solution: documentary and musical meet to restore humanity, voice and body to those who are often reduced to a number or a stereotype. Characters like Yoseli, imprisoned for drug trafficking, or Nacho, a trans man who finds an escape in music, present the experience of detention as a living experience, full of memory and revenge.
Reas is not just a documentary, it is an emotional journey contested between reality and fiction, between pain and emancipation. Directed by Argentine playwright Lola Arias, personal moments alternate with collective sequences in which solidarity and sisterhood become tools of resistance, thus composing a powerful and poetic work, capable of breaking down prejudices and showing the complexity of those who live on the margins.

Regista, drammaturga, scrittrice e artista multidisciplinare nata a Buenos Aires, Argentina, ha studiato Letteratura presso l’Universidad de Buenos Aires e successivamente si è formata in drammaturgia, teatro e musica in Argentina, Germania e Spagna. La sua carriera si distingue per la capacità di fondere linguaggi diversi come il teatro, il cinema, la letteratura e l'arte visiva. Ha fuso vita vera e teatro in titoli come Mi vida después (2009), una performance teatrale dove sei attori argentini ricostruiscono le vite dei propri genitori durante la dittatura militare argentina; o anche Campo Minado / Minefield (2016), uno spettacolo e successivamente un film che riunisce veterani argentini e britannici della guerra delle Falkland/Malvinas. Le sue opere sono state presentate in festival e teatri di tutto il mondo, tra cui il Festival d’Avignon, la Berlinale, il Teatro Nacional de Cataluña, la Schaubühne di Berlino e molti altri. Oltre al teatro e al cinema, ha pubblicato racconti, poesie e realizzato installazioni e progetti artistici in spazi pubblici.

Director, playwright, writer and multidisciplinary artist born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, she studied Literature at the Universidad de Buenos Aires and subsequently trained in dramaturgy, theatre and music in Argentina, Germany and Spain. Her career is distinguished by her ability to blend different languages such as theatre, cinema, literature and visual art. She has mixed real life and theatre in titles such as Mi vida después (2009), a theatre performance where six Argentine actors reconstruct the lives of their parents during the Argentine military dictatorship; or Campo Minado / Minefield (2016), a play and later a film that brings together Argentine and British veterans of the Falklands/Malvinas War. Her works have been presented at festivals and theatres around the world, including the Festival d’Avignon, the Berlinale, the Teatro Nacional de Cataluña, the Schaubühne in Berlin and many others. In addition to theater and cinema, she has published short stories, poems and created installations and artistic projects in public spaces.
