Lo sport come via di affermazione di sé, come dialogo, come legame. È il ruolo della boxe per alcune donne trans, che si riuniscono in una palestra per raccontare, a ogni allenamento, la loro euforia, le loro difficoltà, le oppressioni dell’esterno. Raccontano tutto quanto non solo con le parole, ma anche con la tecnica e un corpo messo sempre alla prova.
Con un piglio empatico ma anche calmo, di sapiente discrezione, Augustine Caille abbatte luoghi comuni e realizza, in pochissimi minuti, un ritratto prezioso di una piccola comunità. È una strategia formale per intavolare un discorso politico ma senza gridare; è restituire la giusta rilevanza allo sguardo che mostra, accarezza i suoi soggetti, e cerca di far capire.

Sport as a way of self-affirmation, as a dialogue, as a bond. This is the role of boxing for some trans women, who gather in a gym to tell, at every training session, their euphoria, their difficulties, the oppressions of the outside. They tell everything not only through word, but also with a technique and a body that is always put to test.
With an empathetic and calm attitude, and wise discretion, Augustine Caille breaks down cliché and creates, in just a few minutes, a precious portrait of a small community. It is a formal strategy to start a political discussion but without shouting; it is to restore the right relevance to the gaze that shows, caresses its subjects, and tries to make people understand.

Giovane regista, ha studiato cinema all’Università di Parigi 8 Vincennes Saint-Denis. Ha realizzato il suo primo cortometraggio, À poings et à coeurs (2024), durante gli studi magistrali di regia, sceneggiatura e produzione all’Università di Parigi 1 Panthéon Sorbonne, in partnership con il Centre Pompidou. Il corto, dall’Horse-Pistes dello stesso Centre Pompidou, ha girato alcuni festival tra cui il BFI Flare di Londra, Cineffable – Festival international du film lesbien et féministe de Paris e Pink Screens di Bruxelles.

Young director, he studied cinema at the University of Paris 1 Vincennes Saint-Denis. She made his first short film, À poigns et à coeur (2024), during her master’s studies in Directing, Screenwriting and Production at the University of Paris 1 Panthéon Sorbonne, in partnership with Centre Pompidou. The short, form the Horse-Pistes of the same Centre Pompidou, toured several other festivals including the BFI Flare in London, Cineffable – Festival international du film lesbien et féministe de Paris and Pink Screens in Bruxelles.
