La studiosa e filosofa contemporanea transgender McKenzie Wark si mostra nuda di fronte alla camera, i segni della transizione di genere in primo piano, mentre la sua voce fuoricampo percorre teorie sull’amore, sulla vita e su dei futuri perduti.
Ma la messa in scena non è statica come sembra, perché Wark si occupa della scena rave queer e trans di Brooklyn, e di conseguenza immagini stroboscopiche e viraggi colorati condiscono i quadri di vita quotidiana che lei offre alla regista Jessica Dunn Rovinelli, stressando il confine fra documentario ed esperienza performativa, fra una storia di vita e una storia d’amore.

Contemporary transgender scholar and philosopher McKenzie Wark appears naked before the camera, the signs of her gender transition in the foreground, while her voiceover runs through theories about love, life and lost futures.
But the staging is not as static as it seems, because Wark deals with the queer and trans rave scene in Brooklyn, and consequently stroboscopic images and color toning scent the pictures of everyday life that she offers director Jessica Dunn Rovinelli, stressing the boundary between documentary and performative experience, between a life story and a love story.

Regista, montatrice, colorista e critica, vive a New York e ha diretto due lungometraggi e diversi cortometraggi, proiettati in festival come Berlinale, IndieLisboa e BAM Cinemafest. Sovvenzionata da diverse istituzioni fra Francia e Stati Uniti, è stata anche attiva come docente universitaria e giurata al Long Distance Film Festival. Life Story (2024) è stato proiettato, fra gli altri, al FIDMarseille, al FICValdivia e al Flatline City Tokyo.

Film director, editor, colorist and critic based in New York, she directed two feature-length films and various shorts, screened in festivals like Berlinale, IndieLisboa and BAM Cinemafest. Recipient of grants from different institutions in France and in the USA, she has been also a University lecturer and a jury member for Long Distance Film Festival. Life Story (2024) was screened at the FIDMarseille, at the FICValdivia and at the Flatline City Tokyo among others.
