Hoda, rifugiata iraniana in Germania, scopre di essere incinta. È un fatto inaspettato, indesiderato, anche per il fidanzato Hadi ma soprattutto per lei. È dunque il caso che Hadi capisca bene anche lui cos’è questo fatto inaspettato, che lo capisca quanto lei, che lo capisca fisicamente.
Un film di gesti cinematografici forti, che inizia con una “espulsione” e si conclude con un “inserimento”. Radicale nell’immortalare il rapporto uomo-donna e la necessità di discutere il paradigma sessuale che lo governa. Gli interrogativi sulla mascolinità messi in ballo dalla sceneggiatura di Hoda Taheri e Boris Hadžija non sono banali domande di curiosità, sono dilemmi annosi e problematici.

Hoda, an Iranian refugee in Germany, discovers she is pregnant. It is an unexpected, unwanted fact, also for her boyfriend Hadi but above all for her. It is therefore the case that Hadi also understands well what this unexpected fact is, that he understands it as much as she does, that he understands it physically.
A film of strong cinematic gestures, which begins with an “expulsion” and ends with an “inserion”. Radical in immortalizing the man-woman relationship and the need to discuss the sexual paradigm that rules it. The questions about masculinity raised by the screenplay by Hoda Taheri and Boris Hadžija are not trivial questions of curiosity, they are age-old and problematic dilemmas.

Regista iraniana rifugiata in Germania, ha iniziato con il cortometraggio Mother Prays All Day Long, menzione speciale al Locarno Film Festival nel 2022 e nominato per i German Short Film Award. Sempre a Locarno i suoi altri corti, As If Mother Cried That Night (2023) and Mother Is A Natural Sinner (2024).

Iranian refugee filmmaker based in Germany, she started with the short film Mother Prays All Day Long, special mention at the Locarno Film Festival in 2022 and nominated for the German Short Film Award. Still in Locarno her other shorts, As If Mother Cried That Night (2023) and Mother Is A Natural Sinner (2024).
Boris Hadžija

Regista e musicista serbo nato in Jugoslavia e residente a Berlino, ha co-diretto alcuni cortometraggi con Hoda Taheri (sempre presentati a Locarno) e un cortometraggio in solitaria, Yugotransport (2023), presentato al Festival di Rotterdam. Insieme a Hoda Taheri sta realizzando un lungometraggio d’esordio, I’ll Plant My Hands in the Garden, progetto selezionato per una residenza a Locarno nel 2023.

Serbian director and musician born in Yugoslavia and based in Berlin, he co-directed shorts with Hoda Taheri (always presented in Locarno) and a short as a single director, Yugotransport (2023), presented at the Rotterdam Film Festival. Together with Hoda Taheri he’s working on their first debut feature film, I’ll Plant My Hands in the Garden, a project selected by Locarno residency 2023.
