Marta non ha scampo: il marito la opprime, la figlia fa i capricci, la madre la rimprovera per tutto, e l’amante non le lascia spazio per respirare. È per questo che decide di non salire sul treno che la porterebbe a Roma da Milano, e di passare una notte nella Stazione Centrale del capoluogo lombardo. Tutti i suoi incontri saranno incredibili, ma uno in particolare, quello con il suo primo amore Wolfgang, potrebbe cambiarle la vita.
Il primo film da attrice di cinema per Laura Morante è una fotografia grottesca della Milano degli Anni Ottanta, un reportage filtrato dal dramma di Mariangela Melato: la sua Marta fa sciogliere le certezze borghesi in un brodo caotico di persone e follie, che la avvicina alla realtà vera di un mondo ai margini ma anche a ricordi, memorie e immagini che forse esistono o forse no. La regia di Giuseppe Bertolucci racconta fantasticamente questo e altri dubbi.

Laura Morante’s first film as a film actress is a grotesque photograph of Milan in the 1980s, a reportage filtered by Mariangela Melato’s drama: her Marta melts bourgeois certainties in a chaotic broth of people and follies, that brings her closer to the true reality of a marginal world but also brings her closer to memories, recollections and images that perhaps exist or perhaps not.
