Tina è una food stylist annoiata dalla vita. Le sue giornate passano tra gli eventi dei suoi volgari committenti arricchiti e le bevute in solitaria sulla sua barca al largo dalle coste di Limassol, a Cipro. L’incontro inaspettato con Nadine può forse rompere la routine, e provare a scrivere una nuova storia che ri-elettrizzi l’immobilità quotidiana.
E così Alexandra Matheou rilancia il silenzio della vita della protagonista con le domande, i dialoghi, gli scambi fra lei e la sua nuova conoscenza, un incontro che ridà sapore alla vita e soprattutto, letteralmente, al cibo – quello che lei mangia in momenti prosaici, in contrapposizione a quello che deve dipingere su barocchi dolci da esposizione. Per non perdere la speranza di ridare energia alle cose.

Tina is a food stylist bored with life. Her days are spent between attending events for her vulgar, wealthy clients and drinking alone on her boat off the coast of Limassol, Cyprus. An unexpected encounter with Nadine can perhaps break the routine and lead to a new story that re-energizes the daily immobility.
And so Alexandra Matheou revives the silence of the protagonist's life with questions, conversations, and exchanges between her and her new acquaintance, an encounter that restores flavor to life and, above all, literally, to food—the food she eats in prosaic moments, as opposed to the food she must paint on baroque, display-ready desserts. So as not to lose hope of restoring energy to things.

Sceneggiatrice e regista, il suo lavoro esplora l'intersezione tra intimo e sociale, con particolare attenzione alla soggettività femminile, alla classe sociale e al senso di appartenenza. I suoi cortometraggi sono stati proiettati in festival e musei di tutto il mondo, a partire da A Summer Place (2021), selezionato dall'AFI Fest negli Stati Uniti, dal Thessaloniki Film Festival e dall'Helsinki International Film Festival, tra gli altri. Nel 2019 ha fondato This Is The Girl Films, una casa di produzione indipendente con sede a Cipro; è inoltre co-fondatrice, insieme a Emma Doxiadi, di Film SOS, la prima iniziativa di sostenibilità in Grecia dedicata a ripensare le pratiche di produzione cinematografica. Il suo prossimo lungometraggio, Stringa, co-creato con Maria Hatzakou, è in fase di sviluppo.

Screenwriter and director, her work explores the intersection of the intimate and the social, with a focus on female subjectivity, class and belonging. Her short films were screened at festivals and museums worldwide, starting from A Summer Place (2021) which was selected by AFI Fest in the USA, Thessaloniki Film Festival and Helsinki International Film Festival, among others. In 2019 she founded This Is The Girl Films, and independent production company based in Cyprus; she is also the co-founder, alongside Emma Doxiadi, of Film SOS, the first sustainability initiative in Greece dedicated to rethinking film production practices. Her next feature, Stringa, co-created with Maria Hatzakou, is in development.
