Una ragazza giovane ed entusiasta di nome Ondine entra in una libreria d’arte, chiedendo di poter realizzare lì il suo stage scolastico. Non è però molto fortunata: la libraia è una signora scontrosa, brusca, che la mette alla prova con una cliente mentre sciorina i suoi racconti disillusi sulla morte dell’arte e della cultura. Riuscirà Ondine a convincere la donna a prenderla per lo stage?
Una grottesca operetta morale su libertà e creatività, incomunicabilità e retorica, anticapitalismo e vittimismo. Un incontro tra generazioni destinate a non comprendersi eppure a provare a stare insieme; uno scontro tra chi crede che l’Apocalisse sia già avvenuta e per questo rinuncia all’ascolto dell’altro e chi invece si sforza di stare al mondo nel migliore dei modi possibili. Una parabola apparentemente tenue, in realtà sottilmente parodica e sconcertante, su quanto l’esistenza possa tendere, senza accorgersene, all’autodistruzione, e su come una risata sia indistinguibile da un pianto.

A young, enthusiastic girl named Ondine walks into an art bookstore, asking if she can do her school internship there. She isn’t very lucky, though: the bookseller is a grumpy, brusque woman who puts her to the test with a customer while spouting her disillusioned rants about the death of art and culture. Will Ondine manage to convince the woman to take her on for the internship?
A grotesque moral operetta on freedom and creativity, incommunicability and rhetoric, anti-capitalism and victimhood. An encounter between generations destined not to understand one another yet to try to coexist; a clash between those who believe the Apocalypse has already happened and therefore refuse to listen to others, and those who instead strive to live in the world as best they can. A seemingly gentle parable, in reality subtly parodic and disconcerting, about how existence can, without realizing it, tend toward self-destruction, and how laughter is indistinguishable from tears.

Critica cinematografica e regista francese, ha diretto sia film di finzione che documentari. Si interessa alla commedia ed è sempre alla ricerca, in ogni suo film, di un tono comico imprevedibile. Una prima retrospettiva dedicata alla sua opera è stata organizzata in Argentina durante il BAFICI 2022. Una retrospettiva parziale ha avuto luogo al Festival Punto di Vista di Pamplona nel marzo 2023. Il suo ultimo documentario, Beaucoup Parler, è stato presentato nel febbraio 2026 nella sezione Forum Special della Berlinale. Tra i suoi lavori da regista, Le carré de la fortune (2010), Complet 6 pièces (2012), Porte sans clef (2019), Presque un siècle (2019) e Baleh-Baleh (2021), ed è stata attrice per film di Paul Vecchiali, Anne Benhaïem, Serge Bozon, Luc Moullet, Louis Skorecki, Pierre Léon e Sophie Fillières.

A French film critic and director of fiction films and documentaries as well, she is interested in comedy and always tries to reproduce an unforeseeable comical atmosphere in her films. A first retrospective of all her films was organized in Argentina during BAFICI 2022. In March 2023, a partial retrospective of her works took place at the Punto de Vista Festival in Pamplona. Her last documentary, Beaucoup Parler, was presented in Berlinale’s Forum Special section in February 2026. Among her works as a director, The Square of Fortune (2010), 6-Piece Suit (2012), No Key (2019), Nearly a Century (2019) and Baleh-Baleh (2021), and she has been an actress in films by Paul Vecchiali, Anne Benhaïem, Serge Bozon, Luc Moullet, Louis Skorecki, Pierre Léon and Sophie Fillières.
