Una notte, ogni anno, una famiglia della provincia americana trasforma la propria casa in una casa degli orrori, e invita i vicini a visitarla. Un’amabile attività familiare è diventata però l’ossessione del padre, e forse quest’ossessione rischia di mettere sotto silenzio un evento tragico che avverrà sotto gli occhi di tutti, ma che tutti ignoreranno. Compreso Andre, che è sul punto di vivere la sua prima relazione con un ragazzo venuto a organizzare con loro la casa degli orrori.
Uno dei film preferiti del 2025 del mitico John Waters, e un horror queer che oltrepassa qualsiasi aspettativa, tracciando un possibile punto di incontro fra il più spinto straniamento brechtiano e l’orrore grottesco e parodistico. Un fantasma opprimente si aggira fra le immagini del film di Zac Farley e del romanziere statunitense Dennis Cooper, qui regista. Ha di certo ragione John Waters, è un “rompicapo cinematografico tenero e poetico”.

One night each year, a family in small-town America turns their home into a haunted house and invites the neighbors to visit. However, what began as a charming family activity has become the father’s obsession, and perhaps this obsession risks burying a tragic event that will unfold before everyone’s eyes, and that everyone will pretend not to see. Including Andre, who is on the verge of experiencing his first relationship with a boy who has come to help them set up the haunted house.
One of the favorite films of 2025 for the legendary John Waters, this is a queer horror that surpasses all expectations, tracing a possible meeting point between radical Brechtian estrangement and grotesque, parodic horror. An oppressive ghost haunts the images of the film by Zac Farley and American novelist Dennis Cooper, here serving as director. John Waters is certainly right: it is “a tender, poetic head-scratcher of a film”.

Nato nel 1953, critico d’arte e giornalista, ha scritto dieci romanzi e innumerevoli poesie e testi di non-fiction. La sua incredibile abilità a mischiare tenerezza e crudeltà, sadismo e vulnerabilità, lo rende una delle voci più originali della sua generazione. Ha diretto tre film insieme a Zac Farley: Like Cattle Towards Glow (2015), Permanent Green Light (2018) e Room Temperature (2025).

Born in 1953, he is an art critic and journalist who has written ten novels as well as countless poems and works of non-fiction. His remarkable ability to blend tenderness and cruelty, sadism and vulnerability, makes him one of the most original voices of his generation. He has directed three films together with Zac Farley: Like Cattle Towards Glow (2015), Permanent Green Light (2018), and Room Temperature (2025).

Regista residente a Parigi, laureato al California Institute of the Arts e alla Northwestern University, realizza cinema e video trattando la confusione come una forma di verità. Ha collaborato con Gisèle Vienne, il cui Jerk (2021), scritto da Dennis Cooper, era in concorso al Sicilia Queer filmfest 2022.

A filmmaker based in Paris, he graduated from the California Institute of the Arts and Northwestern University. He creates films and video works that treat confusion as a form of truth. He has collaborated with Gisèle Vienne, whose Jerk (2021), written by Dennis Cooper, was in competition at the Sicilia Queer Filmfest 2022.
