Nell’oscurità e nel silenzio di casa sua, un adolescente solitario, ardente di desiderio, lancia un incantesimo. La realtà quindi si deforma, e la sua mente supera qualsiasi barriera e può andare ovunque.
Il film di Christian Avilés è la superficie di una bolla. A forza di tirarla, di sollecitarla, potrebbe rompersi. Rischia di frantumarsi come fosse di cristallo, e allo stesso modo il film. Ma la bolla è la prigione che deve esplodere per renderci liberi, o è semplicemente l’attesa verso lo spasmo del godimento? Kenneth Anger forse avrebbe avuto una risposta, ma è certamente l’ispiratore della domanda. Una piccola grande Wunderkammer.

In the darkness and silence of his home, a lonely teenager, burning with desire, casts a spell. Reality then becomes distorted, and his mind breaks through all barriers, able to go anywhere.
Christian Avilés’ film is the surface of a bubble. Pulled and strained, it risks bursting. Thus it threatens to shatter like it is made of glass, and so does the film. But is the bubble a prison that must explode in order to free us, or is it simply the anticipation of the spasms of pleasure? Kenneth Anger may have had an answer, but he is certainly the inspiration for the question. A small yet grand Wunderkammer.

Nato nel 1997 a Barcellona, Spagna, debutta alla Berlinale 2023 con il cortometraggio La herida luminosa, che gira più di cento festival internazionali e riceve la nomination al miglior cortometraggio agli European Film Awards e ai Gaudí Awards. Stallion y la bola de cristal viene presentato in anteprima mondiale alla Berlinale 2026.

Born in 1997 in Barcelona, Spain, he made his debut at the 2023 Berlinale with the short film Daydreaming So Vividly About Our Spanish Holidays, which screened at over 100 international festivals and received nominations for Best Short Film at both the European Film Awards and the Gaudí Awards. Stallion and a Crystal Ball had its world premiere at the 2026 Berlinale.
