Attraverso home movie, diari, archivi di famiglia e dei tentativi di intervista, Ollie e Sterre raccontano la loro relazione durante la transizione di Ollie, che vuole inserire nel suo film la visione della compagna secondo il suo sguardo. “Com’è avere me come partner? Mi odi?”, sono le domande che Ollie fa a Sterre, messa con le spalle al muro dall’insicurezza del regista che scrive nel suo diario “Essere trans significa fallire”. Tuttavia, la ragazza sfugge alle grandi domande e riesce a prendere in mano la propria narrazione, andando a mettere in discussione il potere di chi fa le domande e di chi ha la macchina da presa, in una costante tensione tra l* due amant*, che poi decidono insieme come chiudere la loro comune messa in scena.

Through home movies, diaries, family archives, and a series of attempted interviews, Ollie and Sterre recount their relationship during Ollie’s transition, as Ollie seeks to incorporate his partner’s perspective into the film through her own gaze. “What is it like to have me as a partner? Do you hate me?”: these are the questions Ollie asks Sterre, who is backed into a corner by the filmmaker’s insecurity, expressed in a diary entry: “Being trans means failing”. Yet Sterre sidesteps the big questions and manages to take control of his own narrative, ultimately challenging the power of the one who asks the questions and of the one who holds the camera, in a constant tension between the two lovers, who then decide together how to bring their mise en scène to a close.
