In un mondo di fantasia, creato a partire da filmati d’archivio fascista, vive un’immaginaria colonia di bambin* soggetta alle logiche di quelle immagini. Privati della propria infanzia e intrappolati nei rigidi schemi della Storia, i membri della colonia si ribellano nel tentativo di riconquistare la propria individualità, di liberarsi dalla tirannia dello sguardo del mondo adulto e di riappropriarsi delle immagini che li raffigurano.
Manomettere gli archivi è manomettere la mano che li ha generati, e risignificarne l’intento. In risposta alla domanda “Di chi è lo sguardo?” Ambrosini e Zungri rispondono con un film di immagini in rivolta, fra Benvenuti ovvero vietato l’ingresso agli estranei di Elem Klimov e Zero in condotta di Jean Vigo, in cui tramite l’animazione di bambini, avvenuta tramite laboratori specifici, si sono potute disturbare le rassicuranti immagini prodotte dalla Storia.

In a fantasy world, created from fascist archival footage, an imaginary colony of children lives under the logic imposed by those images. Deprived of their childhood and trapped within the rigid frameworks of History, the members of the colony rebel in an attempt to reclaim their individuality, to free themselves from the tyranny of the adult gaze, and to take back ownership of the images that depict them.
To tamper with archives is to tamper with the hand that produced them, and to re-signify their intent. In response to the question “Whose gaze is it?”, Ambrosini and Zungri offer a film of images in revolt, situated somewhere between Welcome, or No Trespassing by Elem Klimov and Zero for Conduct by Jean Vigo, in which the reassuring images produced by History are disrupted through the animation of children, developed in dedicated workshops.
