Tra i cavallucci marini è il maschio a partorire la prole. Proprio al cavalluccio, “seahorse”, si riferiscono i genitori transgender in dolce attesa. Il documentario Seahorse Parents trova un modo delicatissimo di raccontare un tema pochissimo affrontato anche in seno alla comunità LGBTQ+, attraverso la voce di quattro protagonisti, genitori transgender che riflettono sempre al presente e al futuro.
Tramite il ritratto frontale, Miriam Guttmann plasma il film su quattro testimonianze senza avvolgerci attorno il film di qualcun altro. Ne deriva che l’opera diventa un puro megafono di quattro voci che il mondo trascura, fa finta di non vedere, e che invece affrontano la gravidanza, al netto di ogni difficoltà, con sorrisi e speranze.

Among seahorses the males undergo pregnancy. Transgender pregnant parents specifically call themselves “seahorses” as a metaphor. The documentary Seahorse Parents finds a very delicate way to tell a theme that’s very little known even inside the LGBTQ+ community, through the voices of four protagonists, transgender parents that think always in present and future tense.
Through a frontal portrait strategy, Miriam Guttmann shapes the movie onto four testimonies without wrapping someone else’s film around it. The result is that the work becomes a pure megaphone of four voices that the world ignores, pretends not to see, and that instead face pregnancy, despite all difficulties, with smiles and hopes.
