Rosso come i capelli di Armando e Beatriz è il fuoco che sognano di estinguere per lavoro: appena ottenuto il titolo ufficiale di pompieri, i due gemelli, fratello e sorella, si sentono finalmente cresciuti e pronti ad affrontare nuove imprese e nuovi obbiettivi. Ma Armando si rivela ancora molto infantile mentre dà inizio a un corteggiamento con una vicina di casa, e Beatriz comincia a soffrire di una strana forma di acufene.
Realizzato come titolo dedicato al Fuoco all’interno di una serie di film sui quattro elementi della natura per la televisione portoghese (gli altri tre sono diretti da João César Monteiro, João Botelho e João Mário Grilo), è il terzo film di Joaquim Pinto e conferma, nonostante non firmi lui la sceneggiatura, la sua sensibilità spiccata per l’indagine dei desideri rimossi e per il ritratto dei sentimenti acerbi di giovani esseri umani.

Armando and Beatriz’s hairs are as red as the fire that they dream to extinguish as a job: once they have obtained the official role of firefighters, the two twins, brother and sister, feel mature enough to deal with new adventures and new objectives. But Armando reveals to be still childish while he starts a flirt with a neighbour, and Beatriz starts to suffer from a strange kind of tinnitus.
Made as an episode devoted to Fire inside a series of film about the four elements of nature for the Portuguese television (the other three movies are directed by João César Monteiro, João Botelho and João Mário Grilo), it is the third feature film by Joaquim Pinto and it confirms, despite of the presence of a different screenwriter, his strong sensitivity for the investigation of removed desires and for the portrait of the immature feelings of young human beings.
