Un bambino per strada chiede l’elemosina. Racimola quel poco che ha e lo conserva nelle tasche dei suoi pantaloni troppo larghi. Litiga con un’altra bambina. A corredo di queste immagini, eloquenti della condizione dei ragazzi di strada delle favelas di Rio de Janeiro, l’intervista all’attivista Yvonne Bezerra de Mello, che racconta dati e fatti antropologici di un’umanità reietta dominata dalla legge del più forte e da relazioni di potere.
Pinto e Leonel realizzano un film “imprevisto” durante la loro esperienza brasiliana, e tramite le parole di Yvonne Bezerra de Mello fanno materializzare nella mente dello spettatore una mappatura dei comportamenti sessuali e violenti di un’umanità indigente, in cui non sussistono i paletti di una percezione privilegiata delle cose. La distopia è qui e ora, lo stile di guerrilla filmmaking dei due registi ci permette di toccarla.

A child on the street begs for money. He scrapes together what little he has and keeps it in the pockets of his baggy pants. He argues with another girl. To accompany these images, eloquent of the condition of street kids in the favelos of Rio de Janeiro, the interview with the activist Yvonne Bezerra de Mello, who tells anthropological data and facts of an outcast humanity dominated by the law of the strongest and by power relations.
Pinto and Leonel make an “unforeseen” film during their Brazilian experience, and through the words of Yvonne Bezera de Mello they materialize in the mind of the viewer a mapping of the sexual and violent behaviors of an indigent humanity, in which the boundaries of a privileged perception of things do not exist. The dystopia is here and now, the guerrilla filmmaking style of the two directors allows us to touch it.
