Adele raggiunge la madre Clara in una casa nel bosco, un luogo silenzioso e isolato che pare fuori dalla realtà. I confini di questa isola sono tracciati dall’ossessione di Clara, ornitologa perseguitata dall’idea di poter trovare l’ultimo esemplare di una specie di uccello molto rara, scomparsa da 40 anni. Questa ossessione ha talmente avvelenato il loro rapporto da renderle incapaci di comunicare: Adele non sa convincere sua madre a tornare a casa, Clara non capisce il disagio della figlia. Ma un misterioso incontro getta Adele in una spirale onirica inaspettata.
È insito alla natura di un bosco, alternare il visibile e l’invisibile in mezzo alla vegetazione, tra i tronchi e le foglie. Valentina Pietrarca inserisce un bisturi in quella frattura: misura la distanza fra madre e figlia, e la riempie di quella materia indistinta che confonde sogno, desiderio e ossessione.

Adele joins her mother, Clara, in a house in the woods, a silent and isolated place seemingly untouched by reality. The boundaries of this island are defined by Clara's obsession, an ornithologist persecuted by the idea of finding the last specimen of a very rare bird species, extinct for 40 years. This obsession has so poisoned their relationship that they are unable to communicate: Adele cannot convince her mother to return home, and Clara cannot understand her daughter's distress. But a mysterious encounter throws Adele into an unexpected dreamlike spiral.
It is inherent to the nature of a wood, to alternate between the visible and the invisible amidst the vegetation, between the trunks and the leaves. Valentina Pietrarca inserts a scalpel into that fracture: she measures the distance between mother and daughter, and fills it with that indistinct matter that confuses dream, desire, and obsession.
