Immersed in the ups and downs of domestic life, they head out into the streets of Manhattan to run errands: withdrawing cash from the bank, buying parts for a household repair at the hardware store. In a moment humorously marred by mansplaining, the clerk doubts they can do it themselves. «Two women together – wrote Adrienne Rich – is a work nothing in civilization has made simple».
Created as a film school project by Greta Schiller and Thomas Seid, Greta’s Girls is considered one of the first independent short films to explore the domestic lives of lesbians in the United States. It has been preserved by the UCLA Film & Television Archive in collaboration with the Outfest UCLA Legacy Project.
