Tutte le canzoni parlano di te, sembra dire Mona mentre ascolta Missing di Everything But the Girl: “And I miss you / Like the deserts miss the rain”.

All the songs are about you, Mona seems to say, as she listens to Missing by Everything But the Girl: “And I miss you / Like the deserts miss the rain”. Heartbroken, she receives a message from a friend who seems to have the perfect solution: cybersex. No strings, no heartache, no rushing off to be there at crucial moments. Even her amoral inner voice urges her on: “When was the last time you did something really bad?”
In one of her first incursions into fiction, documentary filmmaker Pratibha Parmar directs this lesbian drama set in the vibrant London scene of the 1990s, amid queer bars and now-defunct cyberscafés. Wavelengths is a film ahead of its time. By exploring how technology redefines desire, it invites us to consider fantasy as a digital space where longing can expand and challenge the boundaries of conventional intimacy.
