Perseguitato dal ricordo di un padre assente e violento, Paul si muove inquieto nella notte berlinese, lasciandosi toccare da incontri fugaci che non fanno altro che accentuare la sua solitudine. Nel corso di questa deriva notturna – ricerca di appartenenza frammentata, movimento fragile verso luoghi ai quali non sente di appartenere –, Paul oscilla tra il desiderio di lasciarsi andare e la paura di guardarsi dentro. Bramoso di connessione, proteso verso un qualche approdo, attraversa, con lo stesso tepore, il fragore del sesso e il silenzio della notte, il volto di uno sconosciuto e la soglia di casa, la giungla urbana e la campagna umida, ma la sua anima scissa non sembra trovare pace. Filmando, con grazia e rigore, lo spleen del suo protagonista errante, Paolo Laganà riesce a restituire l’immagine del suo tumulto interiore, dipingendo un paesaggio emotivo pregno di malinconia e inquietudine, ma anche di struggente bellezza.

Haunted by the memory of an absent and violent father, Paul moves restlessly through the Berlin night, letting himself be touched by fleeting encounters that only deepen his loneliness. Over the course of this nocturnal drift – a fragmented search for belonging, a fragile movement toward places he does not feel he belongs to – Paul oscillates between the desire to let go and the fear of looking within. Yearning for connection, reaching toward some possible shore, he passes through the noise of sex and the silence of night, the face of a stranger and the threshold of home, the urban jungle and the damp countryside, with the same muted warmth. Yet his fractured soul seems unable to find peace.
Filming, with both grace and rigor, the spleen of his wandering protagonist, Paolo Laganà succeeds in rendering the image of his inner turmoil, painting an emotional landscape steeped in melancholy and unease, but also in a poignant, aching beauty.
