Di ritorno dal campaggio estivo, Phil scopre che a casa la situazione non è delle migliori: ad aggravare la condizione di totale isolamento della sua famiglia con il resto dei cittadini, ora la madre Glass e la sorella Dianne sembrano aver litigato e non si parlano più. Per evitare di rovinarsi gli ultimi giorni di vacanza, Phil preferisce andare in giro con Kat, la sua migliore amica, con cui condivide più di un segreto. Finita l’estate, l’inizio della scuola riserverà però un’inaspettata sorpresa: un nuovo studente, Nicholas, farà il suo ingresso in classe, destando l’interesse di Phil. E sarà ancor più sorprendente per Phil scoprire che I suoi sentimenti per Nicholas siano in qualche modo ricambiati. Ma è davvero così facile trovare il proprio centro del mondo? Un film anomalo che riesce a riscrivere un genere tradizionale in chiave lgbt con freschezza e semplicità. Una favola contemporanea che ammicca con gusto all’estetica del cinema di Xavier Dolan.

Back from summer camp, Phil finds out that at home something is wrong: worsening his family isolation condition with the rest of the citizens, now his mother Glass and his sister Dianne seem to have fought and don’t talk anymore. To avoid ruining his last days of summer break, Phil prefers to going around with Kat, his best friend, with which he shares more than a secret. However, with the end of summer, the beginnng of the school reserve an unespected surprise: a new student, Nicholas, joins the class, waking up Phil’s interest. Even more interesting will be for Phil to find that his feelings for Nicholas are reciprocate in some way. But is it that easy to find its own center of the world? An anomalous movie that succeed to rewrite a traditional genre in a lgbt key with freshness and simplicity. A contemporary tale that wink with taste at Xavier Dolan’s cinema aesthetics.

Jakob M. Erwa nato a Graz, Austria, nel 1981, si è diplomato in Arte e Design per poi studiare cinema alla HFF Munich Film School, che ha completato nel 2007. Il suo film di debutto, All the invisible things (2007) ha vinto il Grand Diagonale Award per il Miglior Film Austriaco e il German Independence Award per il Miglior Film Tedesco all’Oldenburg International Film Festival. Il film è stato inoltre selezionato in numerosi festival internazionali di cinema. Nel 2009, Erwa ha diretto una miniserie sui migranti di seconda e terza generazione a Vienna dal titolo tschuschen:power. Il suo secondo film, Homesick, ha segnato un nuovo step nella sua carriera come prima produzione indipendente, ed è stato presentato al Berlinale Perspektive German Cinema del 2015. Con il suo terzo lungometraggio, Center of my World (2016), ha realizzato un sogno adattando per il cinema uno dei suoi libri preferiti, il best-seller Center of my World di Andrea Steinhöfel.

Jakob M. Erwa born in Graz, Austria, in 1981, he graduated in Art and Design and then he studied cinema at HFF Munich Film School, which he successfully completed in 2007. His well-received debut film, All the invisible things (2007), won the Grand Diagonale Award for Best Austrian Film as well as the German Independence Award for Best German Film at the Oldenburg International Film Festival. Furthermore, the film was selected for numerous international film festivals. In 2009, Erwa directed the TV miniseries TSCHUSCHEN:POWER, about migrants in second and third generation in Vienna. His second feature film, Homesick, marked a new step in his career as his first independent production, premiering at the Berlinale Perspektive German Cinema 2015. With his third feature, CENTRE OF MY WORLD (2016), he fulfilled a dream and adapted one of his favourite books, the best-selling novel Center of my World, by Andrea Steinhöfel.
