La storia di una famiglia americana raccontata attraverso i primi vent’anni di vita di Jesse, dalla nascita al college, mentre si avvicendano fortune e sfortune della provincia statunitense, e molti non detti si accumulano finché non sono costretti a esplodere. Un viaggio contemplativo in un mondo che appare pulito e senza macchia e invece omette e nasconde. La voce fuoricampo conduce lo spettatore in una storia di ipocrisie e di insuccessi, con una struttura che mischia narrazione classica e distacco documentaristico, senza nascondere intenti autobiografici.

The story of an America family told through the first twenty years of Jesse’s life, from birth to college, as fortunes and misfortunes of the US province alternate, and many unspoken things accumulate until they are forced to explode. A contemplative journey into a world that appears clean and spotless and instead omits and hides. The voice over leads the viewer into a story of hypocrisy and failure, with a structure that mixes classic narrative and documentary detachment, without hiding autobiographical intentions.

È una delle nuove promesse del cinema indipendente statunitense. È nato nel 1987 e oggi vive a New York. È scrittore e regista. Notes on an Appearance (2018) ha la sua prima al 68° Festival Internazionale del Cinema di Berlino, e i suoi corti sono stati presentati in vari festival internazionali fra cui il New York Film Festival e il Jeonju International Film Festival. Nel 2017 il Filmmaker Magazine, per cui lui stesso scrive, l’ha inserito nella lista delle 25 nuove promesse del cinema indipendente. The Cathedral, il suo secondo lungometraggio, ha esordito alla Mostra Internazionale d’Arte Cinematografica di Venezia nel 2021 nella sezione dedicata ai progetti Biennale College.

He is one of the new promises of American independent cinema. He was born in 1987 and now lives in New York. He is a writer and a director. Notes on an Appearance (2018) premieres at the 68th Berlin International Film Festival, and his short movies have been screened at various international festivals including the New York Film Festival and the Jeonju International Film Festival. In 2017 Filmmaker Magazine, for which he is author, included him in the list of the 25 new promises of independent cinema. The Cathedral, his second feature film, made its debut in Venice International Film Festival in 2021 in the section dedicated to Biennale College projects.
