Il barone Frankenstein vuole creare nuove creature pericolose e assetate di sangue con l'aiuto del suo assistente. Per fare ciò, non esita a commettere atti abominevoli pur di raccogliere tutti i "pezzi" necessari al suo lavoro…
L’anticonformista Paul Morrisey, autore della sceneggiatura insieme a Tonino Guerra e Pat Hackett, sfrutta al massimo gli elementi “body horror” del romanzo di Mary Shelley e si cimenta in una rivisitazione cruenta del mito di Frankenstein, venata di erotismo. Ambientazioni e composizione delle immagini si iscrivono nei canoni del cinema di horror ma il risultato è delirante e oltraggioso, con un finale ci immerge in un universo pessimista alla Mario Bava.

Baron Frankenstein wants to create new dangerous and bloodthirsty creatures with the help of his assistant. To do this, he does not hesitate to commit abominable acts in order to gather all the "pieces" necessary for his work…
Maverick filmmaker Paul Morrisey wrote the script along with Tonino Guerra and Pat Hackett, diving deeply into the body horror elements of Mary Shelley’s novel, but otherwise telling his own peculiar gore version of Frankenstein myth, tinged with eroticism. Settings and image composition are part of the canons of horror movies, but the output is delirious and outrageous, and the end of the film plunges us into a pessimistic universe in the style of Mario Bava.

Nato a New York nel 1938 in una famiglia di religione cattolica e d'origine irlandese, si laurea presso la Fordham University. Già da studente inizia a sviluppare un forte interesse per il cinema, e nel 1965 viene presentato ad Andy Warhol con il quale comincia una fruttuosa collaborazione, non limitata alla sola produzione cinematografica: Morrisey si occupa della gestione della Factory ed è manager dei Velvet Underground. Negli stessi anni Morrisey gira i suoi primi film occupandosi anche della distribuzione. Lonesome Cowboys (1967), è stato il primo film ufficialmente scritto, prodotto e diretto da Morrisey, anche se attribuito a Andy Warhol. L'attività del regista continua sotto l'egida di Warhol fino al 1975. Prima di lasciare la Factory, Morrisey gira la trilogia formata da Flesh (1968), Trash - I rifiuti di New York (1970) e Heat (1972), con Joe Dallesandro e l'attrice transgender Holly Woodlawn, e due horror Dracula cerca sangue di vergine... e morì di sete!!! e Il mostro è in tavola... barone Frankenstein.

Born in New York in 1938, in a Catholic family of Irish origin, he attended Fordham University. As a student he began to develop a strong interest in cinema, and in 1965 he was introduced to Andy Warhol, with whom he began a fruitful collaboration, which was not limited only to film production: Morrisey became the manager of the Factory and of the Velvet Underground too. In the same years Morrisey directed and distributed his first films. Lonesome Cowboys (1967) was the first film officially written, produced and directed by Morrisey, although credited to Andy Warhol. The director's activity continued under the aegis of Warhol until 1975. Before leaving the Factory, Morrisey shot the trilogy consisting of Flesh (1968), Trash (1970) and Heat (1972), starring Joe Dallesandro and the transgender actress Holly Woodlawn, and two horror films Blood for Dracula and Flesh for Frankenstein.
