Piuttosto che tenerle chiuse in un cassetto, ho sentito il bisogno di condividerle con coloro che vorranno leggerle, perché credo che, oltre ad essere testimonianza viva di una profonda amicizia accomunata da un progetto teatrale che proprio in quegli anni cominciava a svilupparsi, rivelino uno spessore umano e poetico di rara e lucida intensità; una voce di fine Novecento di cui oggi più che mai si sente la mancanza. «To remember Nino Gennaro thirty years after his death and on the occasion of the award named after him by the Sicilia Queer Filmfest, which is being awarded to me this year, I wanted to collect in this book a selection of his letters sent to me, written during the period of his illness between 1991 and 1995. Rather than keeping them locked away in a drawer, I felt the need to share them with those who want to read them, because I believe that, in addition to being a living testimony of a deep friendship united by a theatrical project that was just beginning to develop in those years, they reveal a human and poetic depth of rare and lucid intensity; a voice from the late twentieth century that is missed today more than ever.
