Una famiglia catalana intraprende un viaggio in bicicletta in Germania, seguendo il corso del Danubio. Il padre è architetto e cerca edifici moderni che lo interessano; la madre ha già fatto quel viaggio 25 anni prima e proprio in quell’occasione aveva vissuto il suo primo amore; i tre figli si dividono fra spasso e noia, finché Didac non comincia a vedere Alexander, un misterioso ragazzo tedesco, sui sentieri e nei villaggi che attraversa. E qualcosa si rompe – o forse semplicemente nasce.
Poco importa che i genitori di Didac siano estremamente aperti, e conoscano la sincerità con cui è necessario vivere i propri desideri: Didac non saprebbe raccontare cosa gli succede quando Alexander gli appare davanti. È un enigma che sconquassa il tempo e lo spazio, deforma il paesaggio fermandolo e accelerandolo, è desiderio con un pizzico di sogno o il sogno dei nostri futuri desideri.

A Catalan family embarks on a cycling trip through Germany, following the course of the Danube. The father is an architect, in search of modern buildings that catch his interest; the mother took the same trip 25 years earlier, when she experienced her first love; the three children drift between amusement and boredom, until Didac begins to catch sight of Alexander, a mysterious German boy, along the paths and in the villages they pass through. And something breaks – or perhaps something is simply born.
It matters little that Didac’s parents are remarkably open, and understand the honesty required to live out one’s desires: Didac wouldn’t know how to explain what happens to him when Alexander appears before him. An enigma that unsettles time and space, warping the landscape – halting it, then speeding it up – it is desire tinged with dream, or perhaps the dream of our future desires.

Il suo primo lungometraggio, Estrany riu, è presentato nella sezione Orizzonti della Mostra di Venezia del 2025 e poi al Festival di San Sebastián dello stesso anno. Allo stesso festival aveva partecipato alla residenza Ikusmira Berriak, dedicata alla sceneggiatura. Ha fatto parte della prima generazione ad aver frequentato la Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola. Tra i suoi lavori: Ella i jo (2020, presentato a San Sebastián, Rotterdam, FICUNAM e IndieLisboa), Die Donau (2023, presentato al FID Marseille) e La nostra habitació (2025, presentato a Rotterdam e al D’A di Barcellona).

His first feature film, Estrany riu, was presented in the Orizzonti section of the Venice Film Festival in 2025 and later at the San Sebastián Film Festival that same year. He had previously taken part in the Ikusmira Berriak residency at the same festival, dedicated to screenwriting. He belongs to the first generation of students to have attended the Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola. His works include Ella i jo (2020, presented at San Sebastián, Rotterdam, FICUNAM, and IndieLisboa), Die Donau (2023, presented at FID Marseille), and La nostra habitació (2025, presented at Rotterdam and at D’A Barcelona).
