Una funivia sospesa fa da sfondo all’incontro tra due amanti, interpretate da Sarah Turner e Helena Bullivant. Sguardi scambiati, mani intrecciate, qualche passo di danza, un bacio… mentre il paesaggio del monte Pilatus scorre a velocità vertiginosa, al ritmo del ronzio della funivia, che risuona come un proiettore, illuminando queste immagini in un infinito gioco di specchi.
Lahire ha costruito l’immagine attraverso un approccio artigianale – impulsivo, ma guidato da un progetto predefinito. Esplorando la sovrimpressione sia in macchina da presa sia in stampatrice ottica, e combinando immagini provenienti da pellicole e formati diversi, Eerie cattura quell’incontro fugace in un’opera che evoca il mistero del suo titolo e si presenta come una delle poche tracce di un progetto incompiuto intitolato Necropolis.

A suspended cable car serves as the backdrop for a meeting between two lovers, performed by Sarah Turner and Helena Bullivant. Exchanged gazes, intertwined hands, a few dance steps, a kiss… while the landscape of Mount Pilatus rushes by at vertiginous speed, set to the rhythm of the cable car’s hum, which resonates like a projector, lighting up these images in an infinite game of mirrors.
Lahire crafted the image through a hands-on approach – impulsive, yet guided by a predefined plan. By exploring superimposition both in the camera and on the optical printer, and combining images from different footage and formats, Eerie captures that furtive encounter in a piece that evokes the mystery of its title and stands as one of the few images from an unfinished project titled Necropolis.

Ha studiato Filosofia all'Università di Newcastle-on-Tyne (BA), Cinema alla St Martins School of Art (BA 1984) e Cinema e Media Ambientali al Royal College of Art (MA 1986). I suoi film sono stati proiettati in contesti nazionali e internazionali, e tra i suoi scritti si annoverano Lesbians in Media Education, pubblicato in Visibly Female (a cura di Hilary Robinson, Camden Press 1987), e vari articoli per Undercut. Ha anche composto la colonna sonora del film di Lis Rhodes Just About Now (1993). È morta nel 2001.

She studied Philosophy at the University of Newcastle-on-Tyne (BA), Fine Art Film at St Martins School of Art (BA 1984) and Film & Environmental Media at the Royal College of Art (MA 1986). Her films have been shown nationally and internationally and her writings include Lesbians in Media Education published in Visibly Female (ed. Hilary Robinson, Camden Press 1987), and various articles for Undercut. She also wrote a musical score for Lis Rhodes’ film Just About Now (1993). She passed away in 2001.
