In the prestigious boarding house of the Légion d’honneur, near Paris, Fanny makes friends with a new student, Melissa, a young Haitian who arrived in France after the 2010 earthquake. Fanny and her friends accept Melissa into their secret guild; in return, Melissa reveals to them some mysteries of voodoo, linking her family history with that of a zombie ancestor. Subverting the clichés of horror, Zombi Child sets up a carnal and mysterious tale through which to convey a painful political allegory.
