Forse no, ma dovrebbe.

[eng]
Does the name Agustín Gómez Arcos ring a bell? Perhaps not, but it should. He is a Spanish writer who achieved great success in French literature in the 1970s, while his name remained banned in his own country. Six times a finalist for the Goncourt Prize, his works, that was translated into more than twelve languages, address themes such as democratic memory and identity.
Exploring Arcos’s life and work means embracing his precious legacy, namely the profound reflection he brought to Spain’s recent history through silences, lost narratives and the role of culture and memory. This documentary, through interviews with prominent figures including Pedro Almodóvar and Marisa Paredes, serves as a megaphone for a voice that, more than ever, deserves to be remembered.

Lives that meet amid expectations and memories. Friendships, loves and disorientations before growing up, against the backdrop of indolent landscapes.
Based on the graphic novel by Alessandro Baronciani, Le feste senza fine is another experiment by Mauro Santini with schools after Le belle estati: a choral carousel of characters who love and abandon each other to the rhythm of indie rock and dream pop, in a delicate composition despite the rich cast of characters on stage. Santini's language is simultaneously gentle and refined, light and complex, capable of following at least ten different plot trajectories without ever losing its incredible clarity.
Initiative carried out within the national plan “Cinema e Immagini per le Scuole”, promoted by the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Education and Merit.

The world is reduced to a speeding bus with no one outside, aiming to an unclear destination named Circunvalación. Fourteen individuals traverse surreal landscapes as they fabricate their own identities: actresses, directors, performers, religious figures and ordinary people, all with their own languages and their own dramas, yet capable of understanding one another through the language of cinema.
A surrealist road movie, in which the seventh art serves as an explicit and implicit glue between disparate conversations, in a unity of place suspended like limbo. Memories jumble between the words and the meandering eroticism, thanks to the grace of the performances of some (like Japanese director Naomi Kawase, here an actress) or the deliberately campy performances of others (like Arielle Dombasle and Marina Paredes); a mad and slightly gothic carousel that evokes the great and fruitful work of director Luis Miñarro as a European producer.

[eng]
Vincent Dieutre returns to wander through an unfamiliar city, following paths that fork through clearings, ponds, and tree-lined avenues. Like a moving diary, fleeting encounters, reflections on the water, and voice-overs seem to weave together desire, memory, and loss. A wide-eyed flânerie in which every moment seems to hold a fragment of cinema already seen or dreamed, evoking the sentimental geometries of beloved filmmakers. Between intimate confession and sensory drift, Dieutre transforms the landscape into an emotional archive: past lovers reemerge like ghosts among the trees, while the present dissolves into a continuous overlapping of times. The film, suspended between documentary and autofiction, extends the director’s autobiographical work, adding a new chapter in which the director’s body, the city, and cinema itself merge. It is a journey with no apparent destination, where the act of walking becomes a creative act and a form of survival.

The city will turn into countryside, and Adnan’s solitary life will become populated with people, sex, bodies. If they could ever be enough to confront loneliness.
Through three distinct segments, punctuated by narrative ellipses in the protagonist’s life, Lucio Castro weaves genres together, finding in the minimalism of his staging the most effective way to engage with Adnan and his unspoken desires, never granting true catharsis in a world where the pursuit of orgasm is a disembodied pose.

While her friend Laura shows her the possibility of another life, Ari moves in a delicate balance between identity and survival.
Director Teresa Nerozzi met Ari in Palermo, listened to her testimony, and through that encounter she was able to tell her story, a story so similar to that of many others who remain invisible. A deeply sensitive documentary, close yet never intrusive, about the entire world hidden within the passing of time and the everyday gestures of Ari’s life.

[eng]
Rasoi is the film adaptation of the successful stage production by Mario Martone and Toni Servillo. The film is a passionate rhapsody built around the lyrical texts of Neapolitan playwright Enzo Moscato. Fragments, monologues, and songs alternate and resonate like free voices, speaking directly and painfully about Naples.
The cinematic structure is sparse and essential, leaving ample space for the actors, who move within a visual atmosphere inspired by the Baroque Neapolitan painting tradition. The work radiates a visceral love for the city of Naples. Resigned anger and bitter disgust for its present decay mix with nostalgic regret for a noble past slowly dissolving, eroded by the relentless poison of time.
A siren and a prostitute at once, Naples lives in ambiguous contradictions that generate both fascination and repulsion.

[eng]
In Berlin, a group of revolutionaries devoted to sexual liberation and to an anarcho-communist reinterpretation of Marx and Marcuse kidnap the son of a wealthy man, a figure representing the evils of capitalism, and confine him in the house where the gang’s leader, the dominatrix Gudrun, rules over her partner and the other henchmen with an iron fist. But the sexual revolution does not come without a homosexual revolution, and the only way for this Baader-Meinhof–like gang to remain consistent with itself is if the men are able to have sex with one another.
Frenzied, punk, reckless, stroboscopic: one of Bruce LaBruce’s masterpieces remains as sharp as ever more than 20 years after its release. A playful and sharp-witted vision of sexuality is combined with a combinatory, almost terrorist play of sounds, flashes, and on-screen text, like an extremely noisy meditation on the role of slogans, and on the joy of ideological contradiction.

[eng]
In That Cold Day in the Park by Robert Altman, Sandy Dennis descends into a spiral of madness when she takes in a cold, shivering teenage boy (pretending to be driven by purely maternal feelings) and discovers a land of indifference in her relationship with him. The hairdresser protagonist of No Skin Off My Ass draws inspiration from that film, but wants to change its ending: he takes in a skinhead, gives him a bath, locks him in a room, loses him, dreams him, finds him again… will he manage to keep him for himself?
Bruce LaBruce’s debut explores the extremes of fetishistic desire, questioning the meaning of its representation. By embracing his characters’ impulses, LaBruce shapes a new punk cinematic world that does not judge, that elevates sex to a joyful value, and that rejects any intention of being “exemplary” in order to safeguard the freedom of instincts, and of the love that drives them.

[eng]
Paolo's sexual life began at fourteen in a men's room. Since then, his life has been divided between the world of light and the world of shadow. It is a sexual awakening that is also a political manifesto. Only in gay nightclubs one can be free. It is a world of imaginary lovers, dancers of the dark, entities that do not exist in the light of day.
The film that Villaluna uses to shoot, and his wandering, guerrilla approach to the most hidden and vibrant corners of late-twentieth-century Philippines, makes Palugid (which means "margin") a work that is at once rebellious and intimate, as only a solitary life in the metropolitan crowd can be.

[eng]
For the Philippines of the 1990s, Japan is like the United States for Europe in the first half of the twentieth century: a place to escape to, where one can make a fortune and earn money to send back to one’s family at home. This is what Joan hopes to do, spending the entire day preparing to perform at night in Manila’s gay bars, in order to support a family of 18 people. Despite yet another journey to the Land of the Rising Sun, sustaining a life there still proves difficult. Encounters among gay performers become moments of exchange and consolation, a way to share a similar condition – and for Joan, a rare space of release from a life against which one can only be a (sex) warrior, with the stubbornness of a samurai.

Before he manages to brainwash everyone on set, forever stifling any possibility of emancipation, the three girls (a babaeng bakla, an intersex person, and an aromantic-asexual trans woman) must defeat him to affirm, through cinema, the full power of diversity, because the world is not made up solely of paminta, and the power of imagination can restore the richness of reality and destroy all forms of male-chauvinist reductionism.

He thus enters the terrifying world of the metropolitan underworld, amidst drugs and prostitution, putting his life at risk – and discovering unexpected sides of his desire.
Lino Brocka's erotic melodrama is not only a tragic portrait of the Philippine metropolis in the 1990s, framed with shocking hyperrealism, but also a conscious journey into the contradictions of desire and the fine line between sex and objectification. Behind eroticism and film genres (action, noir, generational drama) there is a brutal anthropological essay on self-destruction.

In violent contexts, liberation requires violent strategies too. Insiang is a young woman raised in the slums of Manila. She lives at the mercy of her domineering mother, abandoned by her husband and now seduced by a criminal named Dado, a much younger boy. He’s probably using the mother to seduce Insiang herself, but she will be the one to use him instead as a tool for revenge, in completely unpredictable ways. Only then can she be free to live her life and perhaps even find true love, without constraint, in the pursuit of beauty.
In this social melodrama of astonishing cinematic effectiveness and powerful vision, Lino Brocka depicts a world of poverty and submission, but also of systems of survival and rebellion against abuse. In the realm of the cinema of Douglas Sirk and Rainer Werner Fassbinder Fassbinder, but in the Philippines held hostage by the dictator Marcos and his wife Imelda, against whom the director fought tirelessly throughout his life.

Louise Weard's cult debut, released after a laborious production, is a seemingly amateurish exercise that culminates in the most extreme and effective body horror. The first expression of a broader reflection on a "transgender form" of cinema, Computer Hearts is the Tetsuo of the internet age: in the movie the reclamation of identity and the post-human dehumanization seem inexorably and dangerously intertwined in an unstoppable vortex of erotic horror.

S.I.D.S. stands for Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. It's the title of one of Louise Weard's first short films, set entirely in a hotel room where a person (the Patient) is about to undergo an orchiectomy after discovering they’re pregnant. But due to a mysterious event, the doctor who's supposed to operate on them faints: something terrifying is about to happen.
With just a few elements, Louise Weard creates a small world-story in which the uncanny and the horrifying seem almost tangible. It's a film in which genre doesn't exist.
